What happens when a licence expires

Understand how licence expiry affects property compliance

Updated this week

Purpose

This article explains what happens in Kamma Suite when a property licence expires and what action is required next.

What you’ll learn

In this article, you’ll learn:

  • How licence expiry affects a property’s compliance status

  • What action is required once a licence has expired

When a licence expires

The property becomes non-compliant

As soon as a licence expires:

  • The property’s status is automatically updated to Non-compliant

  • The property is treated as unlicensed until a valid licence is in place

This change happens immediately and does not require manual input.

The next action is updated

Once the licence has expired:

  • The Next action field will show that the licence has expired

  • The required action will indicate that a renewed licence is needed

This helps you quickly identify what needs to be done to return the property to a compliant state.

What happens next

To restore compliance:

  • Apply for a licence renewal with the relevant local authority

  • Update the property record once the renewed licence has been issued

The property will remain non-compliant until a valid licence is recorded.
