Use Kamma Quick Check

Instantly check which licensing schemes apply to a property

Updated over a week ago

Purpose

This article explains how to use Kamma Quick Check to identify which licensing schemes a property falls into and what licence it requires.

What you’ll learn

In this article, you’ll learn how to:

  • Run a pre-instruction licensing check

  • Run a pre-tenancy licensing check

  • View and download a Quick Check report

What is Quick Check?

Quick Check allows you to instantly check:

  • Which licensing schemes apply to a property

  • What licence is required, if any

You can use it in two ways:

  • Pre-instruction check – enter an address to see which schemes apply

  • Pre-tenancy check – enter the address plus the number of people and households to see the licence required based on occupancy

Steps

Step 1: Open Quick Check

If your organisation has access, you’ll see:

  • A form to enter property details

  • A list of previous checks completed by your organisation

Step 2: Enter the property address

  • Start typing in the Address field

  • Select the correct property from the dropdown list

Step 3: Enter occupancy details (optional)

If you know how many people will be living in the property:

  • Enter the number of people

  • Enter the number of households

This is required for a pre-tenancy check.

Quick tip:
A household is defined as related people living together.

Examples:

  • Three friends living together → 3 households

  • A cohabiting couple → 1 household

  • A family of four → 1 household

Step 4: Run the check

  • Click Check Address

The results will appear below the form.

Step 5: View or download a report

If your organisation has access to downloadable reports:

  • Click Download Report

  • You can print or download the report for your records

Printed reports can be useful at valuation appointments, helping you to demonstrate licensing knowledge to landlords and win instructions.

What happens next

  • The results show which schemes apply and the licence required

  • You can use this information to advise landlords before instruction or tenancy
