Understand licence type fields

Use licence type fields to track applications and granted licences

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Purpose

This article explains how licence type fields are used in Kamma's Reapit integration to support the licensing process from application through to approval.

What you’ll learn

In this article, you’ll learn:

  1. The difference between the Licence Type Required and Licence Type Granted fields

  2. When to use each field

  3. How to use Application Status alongside licence types

Licence type fields explained

Reapit contains two licence type fields to reflect different stages of the licensing process:

  • Licence Type Required – used during the application stage

  • Licence Type Granted – used once the licence has been approved and issued

These fields are used alongside Application Status, in the Licence Application section, to clearly track progress.

When to use each field

1. During the application stage

Use the following fields in the Licence Application section when a licence is being applied for:

  • Licence Type Required → the type of licence being applied for

  • Application Status → set to Applied or Landlord Applying

Use this when:

  • A licence application has been submitted

  • A landlord is handling the application themselves

2. Once a licence is granted

Use the following once the licence has been approved:

  • Licence Type Granted, in the Licence Granted section → the confirmed licence issued

  • Application Status, in the Licence Application section → set to Granted

Use this when:

  • The local authority has approved the application

  • A licence has been formally issued

How this supports your workflow

Using these fields together creates a clearer process:

  • You can track applications separately from issued licences

  • You can see the progression from request to approval

  • Your records remain accurate at each stage

Flexible usage

If you prefer a simpler approach:

  • You can continue using Licence Type Granted for both stages

  • You can leave Licence Type Required blank

Kamma's Reapit integration supports both workflows depending on your needs.

What happens next

  • Licence information is stored against the property

  • Compliance and reporting will reflect the licence details recorded

  • You can update licence types as the application progresses
